When I do win, do I walk away with lots of money? No. Do I always walk away with extra money in my pocket? No. There are no guarantees, and of course, you do lose money here just like any other casino. Of all the casinos I have been to, in MY opinion, this one is by far, the one with the best odds of walking away with money in my pocket. lol I judge casino's by four criteria: - Possibility to win - Variety of games - General atmosphere (smoke, spaciousness, cleanliness, etc) - Quality of amenities (restaurants, hotels, etc.) POSSIBILITY TO WIN: I enjoy going to casinos, and have been to 90% of the ones in the State of Indiana from top to bottom and east to west.
The area is not pretty, but the casino is like finding a shiny penny in the dirt. I'm used to the sight of the steel mills since my dad worked in one from the time he was 19 until he retired, so they have a special place in my heart, but I'm not delusional they are ugly. The area is very industrial, but there are small signs of life near the casino like a nice marina and a also a harbor behind the casino. It's right on Lake Michigan in the middle of the old steel mills in East Chicago.
It's about 30 minutes from downtown Chicago in moderate traffic. The Ameristar Casino is located right outside of Chicago in Northwest Indiana (East Chicago) off the I-90 Tollway.
